Greetings from Papua New Guinea. At first I didn’t know where to start and how to approach the AMC MCQ exam. Since June 2023 when I started this sessions on AMC preparation the story is different now. The Two lecturers Namely, Dr Swapnil and Dr Udara are exceptionally committed and deliver well. What is HCPC Registration?
Post-Brexit, the UK faces a shortage of physiotherapists as European professionals’ previous ease of visa access has been significantly restricted. This change has led to increased job opportunities for physiotherapists within the UK.
The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is the statutory regulator for 15 health and care professions in the United Kingdom. Its registration process is essential for ensuring that physiotherapists are qualified and competent and meet professional standards to practise in the UK.
Additionally, patients are becoming increasingly aware of and compliant with home exercise regimens, making physiotherapy a demanding job in the UK.
International physiotherapists can register in the United Kingdom by submitting the required documents. Unlike in other countries, there is no need for an exam.
HCPC Registration: Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for registration with the HCPC, international physiotherapists should go through the international route for the registration process. The criteria for this are:
- You must have completed your training and obtained your qualification outside the UK, either BPT or MPT.
- Your training and qualification must be pertinent to one of the professions regulated by the HCPC, and you must have at least one or two years of experience in the relevant field.
- You should not have been previously registered with the HCPC.
- Proficiency in English exams, such as IELTS or TOEFL.
Procedure for HCPC Registration for Physiotherapist
Physiotherapists who have obtained degrees outside the United Kingdom will have to go through the International route of HCPC for registration.
Step 1- Prepare Your Application for HCPC Registration
To begin the HCPC registration process for physiotherapists, thoroughly read and understand the Standard of Proficiency guidelines. Next, gather all preliminary documents required for your application. Prepare and certify your Course Information Form (CIF) and other supporting documents.
Also, please note that this Course Information Form (CIF) will not be valid from September 2024, and a new form will be available.
Step 2- Scrutiny for HCPC Registration
Proceed to submit your Scrutiny application online, ensuring all information is accurately entered. Then, upload your CIF and supporting documents for the HCPC assessment.
You will have to pay one-off non-refundable scrutiny fees of £639.98. HCPC will then evaluate your online application and issue an outcome within an estimated timeline of 2 to 4 months.
Step 3- HCPC Registration for Physiotherapists
If your application is approved, you will receive an email notifying you of the decision and requesting payment of your registration fee. The registration fee must be paid through your HCPC online account using a link in the email.
Once payment is received, you will receive a confirmation email stating that your registration has been successful, along with your new registration number.
